Angostura’s Graduate Work Internship program has been a rewarding first-step into the professional world. The position allows one significant practical exposure that challenges one to now apply the knowledge gained at university. It also helps develop one’s understanding and appreciation for the less talked about, but equally important aspects of an Engineer’s role, including project management, human resource management, financial planning, etc.
Throughout the Angostura family you’ll find the people are always approachable and encouraging. The relaxed and friendly work environment makes the experience an enjoyable one and serves as a balance to the demanding nature of the position.
It’s been a rewarding experience being apart of this company.
Ayanna-Rene de Noon – GWI Engineering & Maintenance (The GWI Experience in Engineering & Maintenance)
I have been a Graduate Work Intern (GWI) at Angostura for 3 months and it has been a very enjoyable experience working in the Distillery Lab thus far. In this short time I have observed that Angostura is a company that recognizes and rewards outstanding performance by its members of staff and also occasionally provides a social avenue for entertainment for staff, family and friends alike. The staff that I interact with on a daily basis are friendly, outgoing and make working something to look forward to each day. Also, the lab is well equipped to carry out a wide range of tests and analyses but isn’t without its hiccups. Only now am I beginning to appreciate how much work it takes to keep a lab in order and efficiently running, especially when the lab is ISO certified.
William Jordan – GWI (Laboratory)
The science field in Trinidad and Tobago is a very narrow niche and is still in the early phases of development much like our country, while this allows for our generation to be the pioneers in the exciting and dynamic field of science it doesn’t offer much in terms of job opportunity and experience in the working world of science, which I have come to realize is very different from school life. The Graduate Work Intern (GWI) program at Angostura is an excellent opportunity for gaining work experience in the industrial application of the sciences. There are six labs in total, microbiology, instrumentation, food and beverage, factory, environmental and distillery labs. All six labs play a crucial role in the day to day functioning of the company and give a broad detailed insight into how the theory learned at University is applied in the world of work as the staff at Angostura tries to ensure that the GWI-technician gets as much exposure to each of the labs as best as possible. With Angostura being a player in the international market working here allows you to get insight nationally, regionally and internationally on possible career opportunities that you can branch of into in the world of science. That coupled with the great work environment created by the Angostura staff makes the GWI program one of the best work experience opportunities for budding students of science.
Marc Paul – Laboratory Technician (Main Lab Technician)

I consider myself truly blessed to be a part of the Angostura family where you are always greeted with a warm smile and a helping hand.
