Michael Rooplal

Director

Michael Rooplal is an Attorney-at-Law and the Head of Omega Chambers. He has been in practice since 2009 and has extensive experience advising public and private sector organisations on corporate and commercial law, governance, regulatory matters, risk management and complex commercial disputes. He has appeared before the High Court, Court of Appeal, Industrial Court, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and various statutory tribunals.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Rooplal currently serves as a director of several commercial and non-profit organisations and has held a number of senior leadership and governance roles. He previously served as Deputy Chairman and Director of the Environmental Management Authority and as Corporate Secretary of the Cocoa Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago. He is also a part-time Tutor at the Faculty of Law of The University of the West Indies and is a former President of the Assembly of Southern Lawyers.

Mr. Rooplal holds an LL.B. (Hons.) from The University of the West Indies and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, where he received the Best Overall Student Award. He has completed executive education programmes at Harvard University and VU University Amsterdam and has presented at Commonwealth Law Conferences on governance, professional liability and media law.
