Port of Spain, Trinidad. Monday 22nd July, 2019: Students from sixteen primary schools which fall within the catchment area of Laventille/Morvant and who had excelled in their recent SEA examinations, received book vouchers at Angostura’s Top SEA Achievers Awards ceremony held a couple of weeks ago. These vouchers will help assist the children in getting ready for their new secondary schools in September and is part of Angostura’s continuing CSR efforts in the community.
Some of the schools which students passed for include Providence Girls Catholic Primary School, St. Anthony’s College, St. Francis Boys College, Bishop’s Anstey High School, Bishop’s Centenary and St. Francois Girls College. One parent was doubly blessed as her twin boys, who attended Success RC school, both passed for St. George’s College.
Councillors for the Laventille, Morvant and Beetham areas were also present at the ceremony and received additional vouchers from the Company to aid other children in obtaining books and stationery supplies for school.
MP for Laventille East/Morvant, Mr. Adrian Leonce addressed the children and recounted his experience of having a mentor, who helped guide him through his secondary school experience. He urged them to give their best and appreciate the support they have received from their parents, teachers and others. Public Relations Officer of Angostura®, Ronda Betancourt, reiterated the Company’s commitment to supporting the community of Laventille/Morvant, through efforts such as these, which seek to equip the children, who are our most vulnerable members of society, with the right tools to help them accomplish their goals.
