Port of Spain, Trinidad. April 2nd, 2020: National Security Minister, the Honourable Stuart Young, along with Chief of Defence Staff, Air Commodore Darryl Daniel, received 8,000 bottles of 375 ml hand sanitizer from Angostura on Thursday April 2nd, 2020. This is part of Angostura’s initiative to produce and donate hand sanitizer to Trinidad and Tobago at a time when the product is desperately needed to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
Minister Young says, “Out of adversity comes innovation and Angostura has led the way, and I am very proud to say, being very innovative and stepping up to the plate, to assist the country in a great time of need.” The National Security Minister adds, “Angostura, as you know, is one of the crown jewels of Trinidad & Tobago. This type of initiative continues to show why you are able to compete globally. On behalf of the Ministry of National Security and more importantly the people of T&T and the Government, thank you all very much for stepping forward in the right direction.”
The hand sanitizer allocated to the Ministry of National Security will be distributed to the Defence Force, Immigration, TTPS and to the Prisons.
Chairman of Angostura Holdings Ltd., Mr. Terrence Bharath says a substantial amount of hand sanitizer that is being manufactured by Angostura will be donated to the country through the Ministry of National Security. Angostura also donated the product to public hospitals through NIPDEC on Wednesday. Mr. Bharath stated, “One of the things that is unique is that a lot of hand work went into it. It was almost like a hand-built engine. Thank you for the Government’s continued work to contain the virus and we at Angostura will do our part to help contain the virus as well by donating these hand sanitizers to the first responders.” Angostura is donating 50,000 bottles of 375 ml and 20,000 bottles of 1.75 litres hand sanitizer to first responders.
