The Angostura Foundation is proud to announce the donation of $534,000.00 from Angostura’s 200th Anniversary Celebration and Exclusive Auction to the Credo Foundation for Justice.

Angostura’s exclusive charity auction was held on September 14 at the Hyatt Regency where hundreds of guests were invited to bid for three one off items – a painting, collector’s coin and Limited Edition rum.

The painting, commissioned by local renowned artist,Kibwe Loreilhe, was signed by John Gordon Siegert, the great great grandson of the inventor of ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters with a personalised message and wax seal specially commissioned for Angostura’s 200th anniversary.

The collector’s pure gold coin produced by Scottsdale Mint in the USA, is one of one in existence. It featured the Angostura® logo on one side and an image of the founder and inventor of ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters, Dr. Johann G.B. Siegert on the other side.

The Limited Edition rum – Cusparia, of which only 1824 bottles were produced, signifies the year in which ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters was invented. Bottle numbered 200 was auctioned, a figure chosen to commemorate Angostura’s 200th anniversary.

This charity auction for the Credo Foundation for Justice underscores The Angostura Foundation’s commitment to its social pillar which focuses on integrating and harnessing family values, youth training and development and sustainable community spaces.

Chairman of The Angostura Foundation, Professor of Practice Dr. Sterling Frost O.R.T.T. expressed his gratitude to all the bidders, “We would like to thank all the bidders for their generosity at our charity auction and those who donated funds after the auction for the Credo Foundation for Justice. We believe that true success comes from giving back to the communities we serve. Through this contribution of $534,000.00 to the Credo Foundation, we hope to provide resources for the children to lead healthier, happier lives and to offer them opportunities for a brighter future.”

The funds will be used to improve the living conditions, support educational goals and provide essential care services for the children.

The Credo Foundation for Justice is a shelter for children who have been traumatised by domestic, sexual and physical abuse. Hundreds of children have passed through the home over the years, each with their own success stories today. The Angostura Foundation, through this donation, is paving the way for more journeys of triumph.

Sister Juliet Rajah, Director of the Credo Foundation for Justice said the funds will help to change the lives of the children who are traumatised, “Believe it or not, when I got the call from Angostura, I had just finished the monthly accounts and I was asking God, ‘How long can we continue? What does the future hold for us?’ So, it was like a gift from heaven when I heard that we were the beneficiaries of the Angostura auction.”

Executive Chairman of the Coosal’s Group of Companies, Mr. Sieunarine Coosal, took home the exclusive painting and Limited Edition rum in the bidding process.
