As part of our ongoing efforts of promoting responsible pet ownership and a compassionate society towards animals, we hosted our first-ever dog friendly event – Paws in the Savannah on Sunday April 20 at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

The event, which was free to the public, welcomed families, animal enthusiasts and their canine friends for a day of fun, wellness and awareness-all set in a dog-friendly atmosphere.

Paws in the Savannah also featured collaborations with animal shelters and veterinarians, offering interactive activities and pet care services, from dog treat stations, to pet adoption opportunities, vaccinations, training demonstrations and wellness workshops, reinforcing the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to positive social impact.

There were activities for every member of the family – two and four legged. Activities for the dogs and their owners included a fun zone with obstacle course, spin the wheel, toy station, build a bandana station, face painting, caricature, cool down zone with a misting station and dog pools, photo booth, mocktails, canine treats and giveaways from sponsors.

“The work of The Angostura Foundation is to foster a sense of shared humanity and responsibility to the environment. Caring for animals reminds us that kindness has no boundaries and that businesses, like people, have a duty to do better, be better and give back,” said Chairman of The Angostura Foundation, Professor of Practice Dr. Sterling Frost O.R.T.T.

The Angostura Foundation is incredibly grateful to all the sponsors that came on board Paws in the Savannah and played a critical role in ensuring that families and their four-legged friends had an enjoyable time. Through their support of the event, we will be making a financial contribution to four animal shelters – Trinidad & Tobago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Animal Welfare Network, Animals Alive and The Mustapha Project.

The Angostura Foundation’s Paws in the Savannah will make history as the first dog friendly event of its kind in the region, marking its inaugural year as a landmark annual gathering for pet owners, local animal shelters, rescuers, NGOs and animal lovers.
