Port of Spain, Trinidad. May 26th, 2022: Angostura® has been awarded a £3,000 grant from the Royal Warrant Holders Association (RWHA) Charity Fund based in the United Kingdom, for Laventille NGO – Loveuntil Foundation.
The grant is for a Corporate Social Responsibility programme entitled – Link to Learn. The programme is a collaborative effort between Angostura® and Loveuntil Foundation in which the Company is providing support and financial assistance for over 10 students from its fenceline community of Laventille/Morvant. Angostura® is invested in the development of the youths in the area. The Link to Learn programme was launched in September 2021 with Angostura® committing to assist these students from Form 3 until they complete their CSEC exams in Form 5. This includes funding the purchase of schoolbooks and supplies, after-school lessons, counselling, mentoring, field trips, sporting activities and programmes on life skills that cover topics such as conflict resolution, civic duty, mediation, and goal setting. The support also covers providing food supplies for the students.
The RWHA Charity Fund was established since 1897 to support the charitable activities of member companies. It is the first time that a local NGO has received a grant from this prestigious Charity Fund. In fact, in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee Anniversary in 2022, the Loveuntil Foundation is one (1) of seventy (70) beneficiaries receiving a grant from the RWHA and the only one outside of the UK.
Angostura® has been a member of the RWHA since 1955 after the Company was appointed a Royal Warrant Holder by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1955 for its ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters. A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a mark of recognition to those who supply goods and services to the households of HM The Queen or HRH the Prince of Wales. Angostura® is the only company in Trinidad & Tobago, the Caribbean and Latin America to hold a Royal Warrant.
Angostura’s Group General Counsel/Corporate Secretary, Ms Kathryna Baptiste Assee says, “Angostura® has been continuously collaborating with the Loveuntil Foundation in uplifting and supporting the fenceline community through various programmes over the years. The Link to Learn programme was developed to help selected students in the Laventille/Morvant community achieve academic success in secondary school through a holistic approach to their development.”
Chairman of the Loveuntil Foundation, Mr. Brian Jones says, “The Loveuntil Foundation is pleased to have received this grant from the RWHA Charity Fund in recognition of the work that we are doing with youths from the Laventille/Morvant community. The Link to Learn programme that is being sponsored by Angostura® has the capacity to produce strong leaders for the future, the ripple effect of which will create a nucleus to stimulate comprehensive growth within the community. We are grateful to Angostura® for partnering with the Foundation in this initiative and their continued support in the fenceline community.”
Representative of the RWHA Charity Fund, Ms. Claire Anderson says, “The RWHA Charity Fund Board was so pleased to support such a wonderful community charity with £3,000 to purchase supplies so students living in a high-risk area can complete their secondary education. This will be one of the seventy charities supported during the Platinum Jubilee year.”
