We recently concluded our six-week Summer Internship Programme, welcoming 16 talented and ambitious students across various departments. This year’s diverse cohort enjoyed an immersive experience, gaining hands-on exposure to the operations of a globally renowned company.
Our interns worked in key areas, including Bottling and Distillery Operations, Engineering and Maintenance, Finance, Human Resources, Health Safety, Security and Environment, Inventory, Legal, Marketing, Office of the Corporate Secretary, and Quality Assurance. The programme was enriched with comprehensive training sessions and workshops led by our Human Resources team, covering essential topics like Workplace 101, Communication and Etiquette, Interview Skills, Resume Writing and Personal Branding. These sessions provided a solid foundation, boosting the interns’ professional skills and marketability.
This programme reflects Angostura’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent and fostering professional growth through practical experience. The impact is clear: two interns have already been retained for major ongoing projects and roles.
Akeem Beharry, who is now contributing to an Environmental, Social, and Governance project, shared: “My internship at Angostura® was invaluable, giving me firsthand knowledge of the beverage industry. Working alongside experts on challenging projects significantly enhanced my skills and professional growth.”
Sachin Maharaj, who gained experience in the HSSE department, added: “The dynamic and collaborative environment at Angostura®, coupled with the team’s dedication and passion, was truly inspiring. I felt fortunate to be part of such an exceptional group.”
The interns also enjoyed a rum education class, learning to craft Angostura’s signature Queen’s Park Swizzle cocktail. Their journey concluded with a certificate of completion presented by Professor of Practice Dr Sterling Frost O.R.T.T., Chairman of The Angostura Foundation.
We are incredibly proud of this year’s interns and look forward to seeing their continued success!
