Angostura® is leading the way in the drive to sustainable practices by winning the Green Agenda Award from the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

We received the recognition at the Chamber’s Champions of Business Awards and Gala held at the National Academy for Performing Arts in Port of Spain on November 7. The Green Agenda Award celebrates our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.

On receiving the Award, Angostura’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Ian Forbes commented, “We are deeply honoured by this recognition from the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the National Gas Company (NGC). At Angostura®, sustainability isn’t just an afterthought; it’s embedded in everything we do. From our distilling process to our packaging, we are constantly striving to improve and reduce our environmental impact. This Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team and our shared commitment to a greener future.”

Among our key achievements, we have implemented advanced measures like sustainable eco-friendly labels, reducing the weight of our glass packaging, and integration of solar energy to further reduce our use of fossil-fuel based energy and achieving ISO 14001:2015 certification — a standard for environmental management systems. In addition, Angostura® proudly operates a state-of-the-art Water Resource Recovery and Anaerobic Digester (WRRAD) facility, a first of its kind in the Caribbean. This cutting-edge facility underscores Angostura’s commitment to responsible production and effective waste management.

Beyond production-focused initiatives, Angostura® actively champions responsible alcohol consumption campaigns and has expanded its recycling efforts, with ongoing programmes to recycle glass, plastic, and cardboard. We have eliminated the use of plastic bags at our Solera retail outlets, through the integration of reusable bags, encouraging customers to adopt more sustainable habits. Furthermore, the Company continues to phase out the use of diesel-based forklifts and is moving toward the use of electric and CNG forklifts to reduce emissions and increase overall productivity.

Angostura® is grateful for this acknowledgment from the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the sponsor for this Award, the NGC.
